The Fernery: A Living Classroom for Future Gardeners

Garsons, Titchfield, was delighted to have helped bring the Fernery Project at Wicor School to life by supplying a beautiful selection of ferns for this special space.

The fernery is a wonderful example of how children can connect with nature through hands-on learning. From planting the very first fronds to exploring the shady corners of their new green sanctuary, the pupils have played an important role in creating a space that will continue to grow and thrive for years to come.

It was a pleasure to see the project celebrated with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by the school's headteacher and supported by dedicated volunteers. The newly established fernery, dedicated to Sir David Attenborough in recognition of his lifelong commitment to conservation and education, provides a lasting focal point for the project. The Year 4 children marked the occasion with homemade shortbread and elderflower drink made from blossoms gathered on the school grounds – a fitting tribute to the natural world they are helping to nurture.

At Garsons, we are passionate about inspiring young people to discover the joy of plants and gardening. We are proud to have supported this fantastic project and look forward to watching the fernery flourish.
