This theme is named after Gayelette, a beautiful princess and sorceress who was a good ruler over her people. As a punishment to the mischievous flying monkeys, she created the golden cap for her husband, allowing the owner of the cap to control them. This cap was later used by the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz!

The sumptuous deep reds and purples of the Gayelette theme reflect her handsome palace built from great rocks of ruby and her royal status.

Located in the centre of the Land of Oz, the Emerald City is at the end of the famous yellow brick road. In the centre of the Emerald City is the Royal Palace of Oz.

The Oz books initially describe the city as being built of green glass, emeralds, and other jewels, appearing predominately green, as reflected in this theme.

The Tin Man was first introduced as a main character in first Oz book titled The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. He is the second friend to join Dorothy, who finds him rusted solid in distress in the middle of a forest. In the end of the story, he earns what he most deeply desires; a heart.

The browns of the Tin Man theme represent the Tin Mans' original rusty appearance, whilst the reds reflect the cursed poisonous poppy flowers of the Queen of the Field Mice chapter in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel. (And don't forget to look out for the mice hidden around this theme!)

Glinda is depicted as a beautiful young woman, however is much older than her appearance would suggest. She has a vast knowledge of magic, and has a workshop full of various tools, charms, and instruments. She owns a Great Book of Records that allows her to track everything that goes on in the world from the instant it happens.

In The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Glinda tells Dorothy of how she can return home to Kansas using the silver shoes (these are ruby in the film)!

Glinda is depicted in the novel illustrations and The Wonderful Wizard of OZ film as wearing rich pinks and peaches, which is reflected in our theme.

Scarecrow was introduced in the middle of the Munchkin Country of Oz, placed high up on a wooden pole in the cornfields of the Munchkin farming community. His head is described as an overstuffed sack filled with straw, with a mouth, nose, ears, and eyes painted on with blue paint, with two big blue buttons for pupils. The Scarecrow was saved by a giant stork in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

The oranges, browns and woodland creatures of this theme echo the colours of the Scarecrow and his countryside home.

Tik Tok is a one-of-a-kind robot man made entirely of smooth metal. His body is completely circular, and his torso is as round as a ball. He runs on clockwork springs which periodically need to be wound, like a wind-up toy or mechanical clock. Tik Tok is not alive and feels no emotions whatsoever, however as a servant he is utterly truthful and loyal and can never lie.

The silver, black and copper elements of the Tik Tok theme reflect the characters mechanical movements and appearance.

Polychrome is a sky fairy who belongs high up in the enchanted atmosphere, not from the world of Oz. She invisible to anyone outside the dimension where Oz lies. She is a daughter of the Rainbow, and is portrayed as always day-dreaming, carelessly dancing about to keep herself warm and always getting lost or left behind by her sky-family.

This theme reflects Polychrome's lineage as a daughter of the rainbow, with a bright, whimsical multi-coloured appearance.

 

John Dough is a life size gingerbread, man come to life! In his adventures he travels through many fairylands and eventually becomes king of Hiland and Loland.

The gingerbread plush and red theme of King Dough reflects his body made from gingerbread and bright red coat-tail jacket. 

 

The Munchkins are a fictional people created by L.Frank Baum, and appear throughout many of the Oz stories. They are the first 'Ozians' to be introduced in Oz, and are described as a mostly high spirited and content people, known for their gentleness, happiness and hospitality.

This theme consists of various shades of blue, as in the books Munchkins only wear shades of blue - their favourite colour.
