Plant of the Month: November

Cacti & Succulents

Our November Plants of the Month are cacti and succulents. They’ve become more popular in recent years and are loved for their unique home décor appeal. As well as looking good, they can act as natural air purifiers and humidifiers.

Indoor succulents and cacti go well together, so you can mix and match, experimenting with the diverse combinations of colour, shape, size and texture. Some have smooth, shiny leaves while others are furry or have spines. Some succulents have pointed leaves, and others are rounded or have a sculptural appeal.

Cacti and succulents are hardy and need very little care. They like good light, so position them in a bright, sunny spot, but beware of them overheating in direct sun.

They’re desert plants and store water in their fleshy leaves or stems. During winter, they only need watering every three to four weeks. When the top half inch of compost is dry, give them a good water. Many varieties prefer to be watered by sitting them in a bowl of water for half an hour or so, but don’t leave them for too long in water.

There’s 20% off the range of indoor succulents and cacti at Garsons for cardholders this month, so come and boost your collection.
