Hinchley Wood School has been involved with Garsons Growing with Schools scheme for a couple of years.
The school has a garden area that is solely managed by the pupils. It is an area for the children to go to for quiet time and reflection.
With the vouchers, advice and plants that the school acquired through the scheme, they were able to establish several separate bedding areas with wild flowers, vegetable allotments and bedding plants.
We were invited to see the garden area and see all the hard work that had gone into this delightful garden space.
Lesley Mitchell and Georgia Dobson, staff members who support the children with the garden area, stated that the support of the Garsons Growng with Schools scheme has been vital in allowing the children to develop ‘Their’ garden. They both added ‘the children have learnt a lot about gardening, the highs and lows, and also reap the benefits of their crop’.
Garsons Growing with schools scheme is delighted in supporting Hinchley Wood school and other locals schools, encouraging our next generation of gardening enthusiasts!
