Our Garden Centre plant assistant Dave Clark has received a silver award at this year's RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show for his small garden design for The Albion pub at East Molesey. Just a stone's throw from Hampton Court Palace itself, The Albion is a popular community pub and also happens to be Dave's local. His design for the 3m x 3m plot was centred on the idea of the pub as the heart of the community, with brightly coloured planting and structural elements to add interest.
The plants used in the garden were all donated by Garsons, and we were delighted to be able to support this project, which also helped to raise awareness of local charity SOS!SEN. The charity runs a free helpline for parents and others needing advice and information on Special Educational Needs. Named the Fountain of Hope, the garden represents the safety, security and positivity of a strong and vibrant community.
In the months before the prestigious flower show, Dave and his colleagues in the plant team at Garsons collated and selected their choices of plant varieties and colours to bring the garden to life. The selected plants were carefully tended behind the scenes at the Garden Centre in the weeks leading up to the show, so they were in full bloom just in time to win the silver medal.
If you'd like to find out how you can recreate this kind of award-winning style in your garden, ask Dave or any of our staff in the Garden Centre on your next visit. We would be delighted to share our expertise with you.
