Charity of the Year 2020

Charity of the Year 2020

Garsons are delighted to announce our Charity of the Year 2020 for both our Esher and Titchfield stores.

Local Surrey charity Peterson’s Fund for Children has been selected by Garsons Esher to support and champion throughout the year.

This charity is dedicated to improve and enhance the lives of young people with severe mental and or physical disabilities. Established 10 years ago, Peterson’s Fund for Children provide a variety of therapies, specialised equipment and much needed respite care for families based in Surrey and surrounding areas.

“I am beyond grateful for this opportunity. Garsons has always been very supportive of our charity in a variety of ways and this is the icing on the cake. I have applied for 4 years running and never thought I would be considered let alone to be awarded, so I thank you!” said Charlene Peterson, Founder and Director of Peterson's Fund for Children who is a keen advocate of Garsons.

Garsons Titchfield is excited to be supporting Abby’s Heroes. Based in Southampton, Hampshire, Abby’s Heroes help and support children and their families, including bereaved families, who come under the care of the Piam Brown and the Teenagers and Young Adults (TYA) Wards at Southampton General Hospital.

The charity offers financial and practical help as well as the opportunity to make lasting memories for the children and their families. Abby was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer, she along with her parents spent a lot of time on the Piam Brown Ward. Sadly Abby passed away, but her parents Sally and Dave Randall wanted to help other families through traumatic, and often financially difficult, times.

The catchment for these wards covers the south of England as it is a centre of excellence for children’s oncology. The charity needs a great deal of support and relies on company sponsors and fund raisers. “This is absolutely fantastic news. We are thrilled to have been chosen as Garsons Charity of the Year and very much look forward to working with you throughout the year.” said Jane Wilmshurst from Abby’s Heroes.

“We are very excited to start working with these two worthy and remarkable charities, with the precious help of our teams and customers efforts we can make a real impact on people’s lives who benefit from the charities.” Ben Thompson, Garsons Director

As well as collection tins at every till, Garsons will be raising funds through offering children’s activities, shopping evenings and other special events throughout the year.
