Owton's is famed locally for champion homemade sausages such as the Corporal Jones Wartime Recipe sausage, and their black pudding has been named Hampshire's best three years running. The butchers have also been honoured for their 30 day dry-cured bacon, previously winning a 2 star Great Taste Award, Gold in the Hampshire Fayre Sausage and Pie Competition and a Diamond Award from the Q Guild.
And they've just added another few strings to their bow. Three of its home-made meat products have earnt stars in the Great Taste Awards 2018. Owton’s Traditional Faggots and its Chalcroft Farm Burger both received two stars which means judges agreed they were “above and beyond delicious”. And Owton’s Black Pudding received one star for delivering “fantastic flavour”. All three products impressed the judges with their balance of seasoning and spices and that, says Owton’s director John Harding, is the secret to their success.
